The cool thing: MAS is going green! Yay to MAS!

So, a few days ago mum asked me to buy plane tickets for my brother. I noticed a new section on the website and it's a section where you can calculate your carbon footprint when you goes on one flight from where to where. They'll count it for you!

So, let's see... this August I'll be emitting an extra amount of 0.17 tonnes of CO2. Oh My God. This will totally affect my annual carbon footprint for this year. Sigh.
But... you can contribute an amount of money to the trust fund of FRIM to offset your carbon emission. Like this.

"We here, at Malaysia Airlines, invite our passengers to come on-board with us on our carbon offsetting scheme. Whenever you fly with Malaysia Airlines, or our subsidiaries MASwings and Firefly, you may choose to offset the carbon emissions of your flight by making a modest contribution. Those proceeds will help fund selected United Nations-sanctioned programmes to protect rainforests in Malaysia , a natural carbon sink, that reduce greenhouse gases and curb the onset of climate change. Through a trust fund managed by the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE), projects satisfying the stipulated criteria will be funded by these proceeds. Trustees of this fund will include the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia and Malaysia Airlines."
This carbon calculator just makes life easier for those who have dreams of having a zero carbon footprint. Al-Gore says it's possible buuttt until now I haven't figure out how. Anyways, you guys should give it a try. Click on the title of this post to go to the carbon calculator.
I might have set aside the fact that Malaysia Airlines didn't have any plane tickets for me to go to kiwi-a-go go-land during the holidays. Good job MAS, you are officially forgiven.
